ROSE RAMBLER 30th March 2023

Published by Rose Sales Online on 30th Mar 2023

Hello Dear Rose Friends,

Thankfully, we’ve had some rain this past week so we haven’t had to be out watering the pots because it’s still dark until 7.30am! We patiently look forward to the end of daylight-saving time here in Victoria.

MIFGS – Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show opened yesterday. We recall all the years we attended and actually regret that our magnificent roses aren’t there! The cost in both time and money became daunting and I’m glad we’re not getting up at 5am as we used to when exhibiting at MIFGS.

Hope you get an opportunity to attend this year after Covid; we’re very interested in feedback of your experience if you have a moment to share – info@rosesalesonline.com.au – thank you in advance!

In my presentation at Kerang Garden Club last week, I spoke about our chickens and was reminded how Silkie Gardens was named back in 1986 when we first established our nursery – we had Silkie Fowls then …

Now, in favour of the Silkies which our kids really loved and enjoyed showing for many years, I’ve got Langshan bantams which are ideal for our purposes – they’re especially great egg-layers!

Here’s my mate George with some of his girls...

We’ve had some Langshan bantam chickens recently - Mooi is ever so curious

She got scorched on their heat lamp but wasn’t too worried as it was all way too much fun having something little to play with!

A giggle for you ...

Q: Why do brains put chocolate under their pillow?

A: To have sweet dreams.

Our autumn roses are stunning – last Saturday morning we stood quietly reflecting and overseeing how beautiful the potted roses look with the morning sun shining on them …

It’s time now to start trawling through rose nurseries and gardens so that you can photograph roses you would love to grow in your own garden … here are a couple we thoroughly enjoyed in the nursery last weekend and will definitely be planting in new gardens:

It’s time now to start compiling your wish list of bare-rooted roses to be delivered this coming winter from early June onwards. If you need a hand with garden design or selecting the right varieties for your garden, don’t hesitate to email Diana with your ideas and she’ll help you get organized – her motto: Do It Once, Do It Right!

Make www.rosesalesonline.com.au your one-stop-shop for magnificent roses this bare-rooted rose season.

A giggle for you ...

Q: What do you call an empty skull?

A: A no-brainer!

Saying goodbye to Daylight Savings is worth celebrating so we’ve reduced ALL WEEPING ROSES by 30% - Now, pay only $100 when you collect* one of our magnificent 1.8mt tall weeping roses.

*Please note: PICK UP ONLY – a weeping rose fits in an ordinary sedan with the pot placed in the front passenger footwell – the flowering head is securely maneuvered to the back seat behind the driver’s head.

Enjoy your week and do make plans to come for a visit during this coming Easter time when we’ll have an egg hunt on Sunday morning along with some great Easter specials on our potted roses … see you soon
