Last Chance To Order Bare-rooted Roses

This is our last week of winter and your last chance to order bare-rooted roses for 2023 season – all roses will be listed in the online store as POTTED ROSES from next THURSDAY onwards.

Some gardeners will be pruning their roses now, just as we are here at Clonbinane, so we hope you’ve sharpened your secateurs, loppers and pruning saw to make light work of the task.

Speaking of secateurs - Buy the very best you'll ever wish to own ...

We have untold numbers of testimonials about the brilliant, Lowe 5 secateur which fits comfortably into the smallest or largest hands, cuts with precision by its anvil blade and is easy to sharpen and maintain … once you prune with a Lowe 5 secateur, you’ll throw all your other secateurs away!

If you don’t already have a pair, take up this special offer – perhaps the ideal gift for your Dad this coming Father’s Day …

Lowe 5 Secateurs and sharpener Promo $ 99.50 (includes shipping)

... so you can enjoy pruning even thick branches with ease!

A giggle for you …

Q: What do crocodiles call children?

A: Appetisers!

Odd Growth on Rose Roots

Robyn was recently repotting roses which had been in pots for a few years and noticed these growths on the roots.

I recognise this as crown-gall which, if you look into it, might be deemed scary for our roses but we’ve noticed this kind of growth both above and below ground on roses and the roses are okay.

My recommendation to Robyn was to remove the galls from the roots and replant the roses as she normally would into quality potting media.

If you see these galls on roses in your garden, remove them by simply pushing them off the stem where they’re growing and place them into your waste bin.

A giggle for you …

Q: What do you call a boomerang that won’t come back?

A: A stick!

As we wind up this winter, we’ll prune our gardens so they’re majestically beautiful for coming seasons.

We’ll pot all bare-rooted roses which are in our heel-in beds and now begging to be nurtured by our supreme quality coire-fibre potting media – they’ll grow beautifully so they’re ready to post during this flowering season for ‘instant garden’ at your place!

Meantime, take the opportunity of purchasing the last bare-rooted roses of this season at www.rosesalesonline.com.au – happy shopping!

Talk to you next week on the eve of spring … thanks for letting us share our love of roses with you through this Rose Rambler newsletter …
