Rose Rambler: 21st September 2023 - New Releases. Yea Garden Expo

22nd Sep 2023

Hello Dear Rose Friends,

All very exciting here at Silkies Rose Farm, Clonbinane as we’ve now got all the roses potted and many are already showing buds which means the door of winter hardly closed and spring has sprung with above-average temperatures and fine sunny days so the roses will probably flower earlier this year.

… rather staggering how quickly those bare sticks are now fully leafed-up and ready to flower.

Remember, you can continue to purchase potted roses for planting in your garden any time you’ve got space and a few spare $$’s of course!

A giggle for you ...

Q:  What did the ground say to the earthquake?

A:  You crack me up.

Our 20cm pot is sealed and taped to be watertight and remain damp for many days. Two pots are positioned end-to-end and secured so they don’t shift during transit – no matter how rough they’re handled.

Each pot weighs up to 4kg and we can tape two boxes together for a manageable weight of around 16kgs – four potted roses delivered to your door ready to be planted in your garden!

When we stack three boxes together, we know the 20kg parcel is not handled as quickly during transit – I can definitely understand that to some extent because I have to lift those packs into my vehicle and then into the Post Office at Wandong – yes, they’re awkward and heavy!

So, moving forward, we would ask you to limit your order to FOUR ROSES PER ORDER. You can make multiple orders of four roses which we know are being delivered very promptly by Australia Post.

This week we listed four new rose varieties on our website www.rosesalesonline.com.au

Here’s my special offer which may entice you to treat yourself …

BUY ANY 3 ROSES AND WE’LL POST ONE NEWLY LISTED VARIETY OF YOUR CHOICE FREE

(For online orders, you purchase the three roses you’d love to have and either we’ll select the free rose or you can tell us in the comments section of your order which rose you would like.)

Another giggle ...

Q:  How do you measure a snake?

A:  In inches because they don’t have feet!

It’s such a warm start to spring so snakes will be coming out of hibernation – we’ve checked our solar-powered snake repellers are all in working order as they protect us around the house and nursery area. We’ve become accustomed to the humming sound they emit – actually, quite reassuring.

If you get a chance to visit Yea Garden Expo this weekend, drive back through Strath Creek, up the Murchison Gap where you can stop and view the valley of a thousand hills at the lookout. Absolutely spectacular!

See you soon at Silkies Rose Farm, Clonbinane …
