Hello Dear Rose Friends,

It’s Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show this week and we may well bump into you as we wander around the magnificent gardens, be inspired by the flower arrangements and enjoy Melbourne at her best!

We’ll be travelling by train since we haven’t driven in Melbourne since before Covid … it will be an adventure for sure and hope you get to visit too.

… With Easter holidays next week, I hope you make time to potter in your garden. Wherever I’ve been digging, I’ve noticed how dry the soil is so we’ll be re-mulching beds with pea straw where the mulch has diminished and using eucy-mulch around the edges and paths to inhibit weeds.

Continue to remove spent flowers by dead-heading the roses which may encourage new growth and perhaps more flowers before the cold of winter starts to shut down the plants. Regular applications of liquid seaweed poured over the plants will ensure foliage stays healthy.

Q: How did the pirate buy his ship so cheaply?

A: It was on sail.

JUST FOR FUN ...

… Here are two photos of Graham one evening after cataract eye surgery recently – as you can see him contemplating how to use the Amaranth …

These pranks are regular events and I’m learning to have the camera ready at all times … they now call me “the Clonbinane paparazzi” as I zoom in so that we can share the fun of gardening.

We hope you enjoy fun times in your garden which you’re always welcome to share with us by sending your pics to info@rosesalesonline.com.au so that we can spread the joy.

Keep smiling as you enjoy all the beauty in your autumn garden …
