ROSE RAMBLER 23RD SEPTEMBER, 2021

Published by Rose Sales Online on 22nd Sep 2021

Hello Dear Rose Friends,
Exciting times as we see different varieties preparing for VERY EARLY FLOWERING here at Clonbinane. It was a very wet winter but we had fewer frosts than in other years. The roses have enjoyed this lack of frost stress so have sent energy into flower buds … it’s awesomely exciting!

First roses to flower:

Joseph’s Coat – One of the happiest roses which flowers continually throughout the season. Simply stunning climbing rose which requires consistent fertilizing in order to continue to produce an incredible amount of flowers throughout the season - so glad we have kept this rose in production because it is such a stunningly beautiful climbing rose!  SHOP NOW!

Purple Rain – Several years ago I prepared a basket at the request of the Horticultural Society of Vic for their hugely popular ‘Basket Competition’ at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show. No prize winner at the show but still in the basket, plonked into a half-wine barrel, this amazing ground-covering rose is a huge delight now and will continue to flower for many months.

It is now added as a ‘new release’ product on our website at www.rosesalesonline.com.au and is definitely worthy of space in your garden.  SHOP NOW!

Pierre de Ronsard – The magnificently popular climbing rose is also flowering very early this season. Flowers freely and repeatedly. Only very lightly scented but this rose makes up for that by its abundant health and massive production of flowers over a very extended season.     SHOP NOW!

BETTER LATE THAN NEVER...
There were times in past weeks when we thought some of our beautiful roses would never be delivered however, success stories abound and it’s happiness all-round …

FOILIAGE AFTER A LONG RIDE...AHHH!
"Hi again Diana - Samantha here up in South West Rocks on the Mid North Coast NSW with some good news - Happy Birthday! was delivered this morning (so it's happy birthday to me again ).

Thank you for the care and attention you clearly give to packing your roses – it has traveled well as you can see, however, is a little on the ‘light green’ side in places – I will soak in for 24 hours in a seaweed solution and then its straight into the patio pot. Should I do anything else to it do you think? Kind regards – Samantha"

MY RESPONSE: Thanks, Samantha. Believe me, every one of the ‘late’ roses is in my heart until it’s delivered. It will be perfect once it sees the sun … wouldn’t hurt to give it a prune actually – if you trust me, take ½ of all growth off and you wait and see what happens! Cheers!

FOUR WEEKS IN TRANSIT!
This bundle of 20 standard roses of As Good As It Gets finally arrived for Robyn and this is how they looked after being posted on 20th August, arriving last Friday, 17th September … a whole FOUR WEEKS IN TRANSIT!

We’ll consult with Robyn during planting and until the roses are flowering, we’ve asked her to take a monthly pic to share progress of these roses which endured this incredibly long journey.

SERIOUS BRAGGING …
We love it when our customers share their magnificent rose pictures … this awesome Scentimental rose is a joy in all climates! It also makes for a most amazing flower arrangement to add a touch of magnificence to your home decor!

JOKE THIS WEEK:
Q: What do you call a boomerang that won’t come back?
A: A stick …

If you were smart enough with that one, here’s another one to test you and the kids who are now on holidays:
Q: Why did the pig stop in the middle of the road?
A: Because he ran out of grunt!
