Rose Rambler: 9th September 2024 PRINCESS CHARLENE DE MONACO ½ PRICE

Hello Dear Rose Friends,

Welcome to spring! It’s unprecedented in the history of our 40 years of rose-growing that we have buds on some of the very early potted roses in the first week of spring so it’s definitely a season like no other with the warmest winter temperatures on record across Australia!

Here at Clonbinane we had almost-record-breaking frost to minus 7.6 degrees during this past winter and higher than usual rainfall. Now, we’ve turned around to see some of the very-first-potted roses already producing flower buds; amazing and although welcome, perhaps a tad concerning and time for us all to be ever more diligent about taking care of our environment.

You might think this is unimportant in your backyard or even on your balcony garden but every small thing you do in caring and nurturing nature will make a significant difference so be sure to use organic growing methods!

I always enjoy reading information from Sustainable Gardening Australia and urge you to sign up and receive their newsletter. This month there’s a great article about how to create a frog pond in a relatively small space of garden … when we open our windows in the night soon, we’ll be rocked-off to sleep by the harmony of frogs chirping and it’s a pleasure like no other so with very little effort, create a place for frogs to enjoy in your garden.

SIGNS OF APHIDS ALREADY …

in a healthy garden, there should be some aphid which means things are in balance. Organic rose management won’t KILL EVERYTHING because we need food for the beneficial insects so having some aphid apparent, is good! Using Eco oil is interrupting the breeding cycle by suffocating larval stage aphids and adding Eco Neem if there is a serious issue works well – insects ingest the Neem oil and it triggers them to stop eating and thus perish.
I urge you to be tuned-in and use your natural, intuitive power when gardening! If you think it’s the right time to prune a rose or plant a seedling, DO IT and 99.9% of the time, you’ll be perfectly synced with Mother Nature and all will be great … take care where you source information because there’s an awful lot of very suspect material available to innocent gardeners – you’re always welcome to email: info@rosesalesonline.com.au and we’ll be in touch with you within 48 hours with a response.
