Organic Rose Management Upgrade
… remember this day 23 years ago when we had been promised there would be no GST? I definitely remember 30th June of that year when we had to adjust to this newly introduced tax in our nursery and café businesses at Kilmore.
It was also the day that Gra’s dear Dad, Edward George Sargeant passed away. He was the guiding light, the gardener and chook breeder who inspired Graham … aaah, the memories!
… amongst us ‘oldies’ it’s easy to think the up-and-coming generation are destined for disaster … have faith and believe that all those young people are watching us and they will be inspired by our actions and attention to them – exactly as we were inspired by our parents!
When your children don’t want to get out of bed on the weekend to come with you to visit a nursery, bait them with a treat on the way … keep believing in them and whilst you’re out driving with them on their ‘L’ plates, chat about what their world means to them … don’t ever be afraid to be shocked by their antics because that’s what they’re asking for … our attention!
A giggle for you ...
Q: What does a painter do when she gets cold?
A: She puts on another coat!
Unbelievable
… This past weekend, pastry-chef, John, showed me pictures of the roses he makes with sugar … I’m sure you’ll be as amazed as we were …
For a hard surface like a balcony, it’s also a wonderful idea to purchase those trolleys so that pots can be readily moved around. When a particular rose is flowering stunningly, put it right outside the window so you can enjoy it from indoors … if you pamper your potted roses you’ll be very rewarded with lots of magnificent blooms over an extended period of time.
You’ll see John demonstrating at the Whittlesea Show which is held later this year – we’ll remind you closer to the date.
Perfect Timing
… the saying that ‘summer gardens are planted in winter’ really rings true, especially for roses. Now is perfect time for planting and transplanting roses as there is no pressure from high temperatures and roots have ample time to settle into new soil … it’s easy to do any tasks with roses during these cool months when generally, they’ll be well-watered naturally so just offer your roses a slosh of seaweed solution every 10 days or so.
Soon enough, it’s time for winter pruning after which, you’ll start the organic rose management program:
To 10 litres of water add:
- 5g scoop Eco Seaweed
- ¼ cup Eco Fungicide
- ¼ cup Eco Oil
Once well dissolved, spray or pour over roses and garden beds at least once a month as foliage appears – remember, Eco organic products are very effective in controlling pests at larval stage and disease before it is evident so, if you commence this management program immediately after pruning, your roses are miles in front because these products will inhibit problems!
End of Financial Year Special Offer
Organic Rose Management Spray Upgrade
Our Organic Rose Management Program which includes 500g of Eco-Fungicide, 500ml of Eco-Oil and now with an upgrade to 600g Eco-Seaweed (RRP $32.50) instead of the 100g Eco-Seaweed (RRP $21.50) which is a WHOPPING 500g EXTRA and HUGE SAVING!!
ORGANIC MANAGEMENT SPRAY UPGRADE - $79.50 INCLUDES PACK/POST
When you have the bonus 600g pack of Eco Seaweed, go ballistic and improve healthy vigorous foliage of all your garden by pouring Eco Seaweed solution over and around the base of all plants in your garden – you’ll be staggered by the difference and your plants will be singing ‘thank you’!
Remember that seaweed solution is NOT fertiliser so go to your local garden centre and purchase high-quality organic fertiliser which has a complete balance of NPK plus added trace elements. Apply fertiliser now and follow pack directions but usually, roses love a good feed, so every 6-8 weeks of light but regular applications is great for continual flowering.

Q: What’s green and not heavy?
A: Light green.
Updating on Posting Roses
There are 8 men on shovels hand-digging our roses – it’s messy and very hard work! We are still waiting on many varieties of roses to be dug so we’re a bit behind with posting roses this year.
Don’t despair, you’ll receive notification as soon as your parcel is received by Australia Post … one customer told me she went and put sticks in the ground where she proposes planting her new roses. It gave her a sense of excitement to see ‘something’ in her new garden.
May you enjoy positive and happy moments in your winter garden too!
Best wishes from us here at Clonbinane …
