Hello Dear Rose Friends,
This time last year our dahlias had already experienced their first frost which ended their season of flowering but this year, they’re still looking stunning and with more warm weather on the way, we’ll continue to enjoy their flowers!
… I’m soooo looking forward to the end of daylight savings – we’ve been getting up in the dark for months already and since we’ve now had the autumn solstice, our days will get shorter too … some things we simply aren’t in control of.
HAVE A GIGGLE
Q: What made the sausage roll?
A: He saw the apple turn over.
Speaking of apples, we’ve had an amazing harvest of fruit this season – the biggest apples, crunchy and juicy Nashi and lots of pears – the first crop are in preserving jars and the next crop is still waiting to ripen.
When selecting fruit trees for your garden, consider ordering early fruiting as well as late-fruiting varieties to spread out the harvest.
I take particular care when ordering daffodils/spring flowering bulbs so that I extend their wonderful display from the very beginning of late-winter flowering until just before the roses start flowering in spring.
You can do that with roses too … when you see a particular variety of rose flowering prolifically around your neighbourhood during autumn and into winter, take note of the name and add it to your ‘wish list’ because long-flowering varieties can add glorious colour to your rose garden for at least nine months each year.
Because of climate variations around Australia, it’s difficult for us to compile a list of such varieties however, if you live close and have a free afternoon this weekend (CLOSED GOOD FRIDAY), do come and visit us here at Clonbinane where you’ll enjoy a spectacular number of flowering potted roses and do take time to stroll in the gardens which are absolutely stunning at this time of year!
To entice you to jump in the car and come for a visit, for every 3 roses you purchase, you’ll get one FREE … in other words, we’ll pay the fuel for you to drive here by offering you a $42.50 rose absolutely free of charge when you purchase any three others!
Here are a few which look awesome right now …
Happy Birthday!
Pack a picnic and find a shady tree in our garden – let the kids run free and definitely bring your dogs on a lead so they can visit with Mooi …
If you can’t visit us, please take advantage of this ONLINE offer too.

Recently, we’ve been very impressed with delivery times by Australia Post – a parcel leaving here early on Monday will arrive at most destinations by Wednesday; sometimes earlier into metropolitan areas in all States!
Confidently order potted roses for immediate planting in your garden this autumn as Terri did recently …
"Got my roses today 100% happy with the plants.. they came well packed, the pots were wrapped in plastic bags ... also came with an info sheet and a pack of concentrate seaweed powder - thanks"
The concentrate seaweed powder is a 5g pack of Eco Seaweed which goes into every parcel of roses posted from Silkies Rose Farm just in case you don’t have a seaweed product on hand. We highly recommend you pour a watering can of eco-seaweed solution over each rose after planting – this is so very vital for the success of planting roses which will flourish if you do it right!
Just in time for Easter, Marni in South Australia received four roses posted for a gift and we managed to organize her order through emailing/direct debit payment because she wasn’t confident with online ordering. The roses left here last Monday morning and by Tuesday, we had this email …
"Hi Diana, all the roses arrived very healthy this morning. Thank you for the seaweed powder. "
ANOTHER GIGGLE FOR YOU ...
Q: What sort of chocolate can you buy at the Airport?
A: Plane chocolate!
Hope you celebrate this Easter weekend with family and friends – take a walk together in the sunshine … turn off your phones and enjoy precious moments away from technology this long weekend. Happy Easter …
