Rose Rambler: 14th September 2023 - Tagged4Life. Bare Rooted Standards

15th Sep 2023

Hello Dear Rose Friends,

Spring sunshine on our potted roses means they’ll be fully foliaged within weeks – during the next 10 days, all pots will be top-dressed with Bio-Stimulant from Soilcharge and sprayed with our organic rose management products. It’s so exciting to see the nursery poised for flowering soon … aaaah!

… now that your roses are starting to foliate and flower, I urge you to remove the plant label which will, almost surely, cause grief on the branch where it’s attached – well, that’s my experience after all these years.

Once the label was removed, we had the dilemma of remembering the name of each rose and we’ve tried all sorts of things from venetian blind strips pop-rivetted to conduit with hand-painted black enamel paint used for the rose name – these hand-made labels were found all around Kilmore and were usually returned to the rose nursery! They were sturdy, artistic but oh, so very time-consuming and it was especially annoying when they were vandalised.

We don’t have vandal issues here at Clonbinane so years ago, we started using cow-ear-tags which were attached with cable-tie to a nearby stake … marginally successful but hardly a pretty sight …

Welcome to TAGGED-4-LIFE who created these durable plant labels which, as their name suggests, will ensure our roses are permanently named for their life-time … such a professional, almost ‘botanic-garden look’ in our home garden where it’s very important that roses and trees are labelled for us as our memory slips and of course, for our visitors too!

Take a look at www.tagged4life.com.au and be confident that when you remove the commercial tag supplied with your rose which is sure to fade and perish, you too can install a permanent identifier for your roses.

I believe this is absolutely imperative for our GIFT ROSE which is usually planted on a memorable occasion – a birthday, anniversary, death or just because you planted a rose for the love of it … give it a permanent name tag!
