POSTING ROSES DURING HOLIDAY PERIOD

So that our lovely potted roses don’t get caught up in the postal system during Easter and then Anzac Day, we’ll post all interstate orders from Monday, 28th April.
For a giggle

A student came into the classroom with a great big swelling on the end of his nose.  “How did you get that?” asked the teacher.  “I was smelling a BROSE” replied the student sadly.

“I think you mean a rose” because there’s no ‘B’ in rose” said the teacher.  “Well, there definitely was one in the rose I was smelling!” said the student.

WHAT FERTILISER, WHEN AND HOW MUCH …

Autumn is considered a great time to fertilise your garden but I recommend you not fertilise until you get a good drenching of rain as so many gardens are in drought throughout Victoria, SA and NSW!

For gardeners in QLD I would like to share this link from Biodynamic Agriculture Australia to assist with rectification of sodden soil
Biodynamic Agriculture Australia
If you’re watering your garden despite the dry conditions in many parts of Australia, fertilise now and you will be sure to retain healthy foliage on your roses as they start the shut-down ready for winter pruning.

Here’s an email which is similar to what we regularly respond to …
Good Morning.

I need some assistance with finding out how often and how much chicken manure pellets I should be feeding my roses.  I have just over 90 in the garden.

Hope you can help - Bob
MY RESPONSE ...

Generally, that type of fertiliser would give you some application rates – we don’t use straight chicken manure so I can’t speak from experience.  I think you couldn’t go wrong using a good handful around the base of each rose …

cheers - Gra

I would like to stress at this point that no matter what products you use in and around your rose garden, please, please read label directions so that you ensure your plants are safe from whatever you decide to apply!!!

Just in time for Easter, one last joke to see which clever person in your house knows the answer to this one …
Have another giggle

Q: What do you get if you drop boiling water down a rabbit hole?
A: Hot Cross bunnies!

We’re so lucky that our garden is almost 100% bunny-proof due to amazing fencing which was installed after the 2009 Black Saturday bushfire – how I wish this was the case for lots of our customers because it’s blissful!

Enjoy Easter with your family and friends – see you soon at Clonbinane where you can select the most amazing potted roses for 50% off until end April …
