Rose Garden Inspiration

Hello Dear Rose Friends,

It was Oaks Day at the Melbourne Cup Carnival of racing today and the roses sure were amazing just as Mick predicted and worked endlessly with his team to ensure they would be!

Here at Silkies Rose Farm, Clonbinane, we’re flowering now too so Gra and Diana will be excited to see how magnificent it all looks when they arrive home soon after attending the World Rose Conference in Adelaide.

While they’ve been away, we’ve completed the new car park area and finally been able to get out into the garden to do a bit of weeding – areas where it was impossible to mow are now also looking neater.

I couldn’t leave without some instructions and a joke…

  • Remove and re-tie all standard/weeping rose ties now as the stems will thicken dramatically since plants are actively growing.
  • Fertilise all hedge plants and pour seaweed solution over them to be sure growth is lush green for ‘Celebrate Gardens of Clonbinane’ on Saturday, 3rd December.
  • Reinstate all solar snake warning devices in strategic spots around house and nursery – new batteries will be necessary.
  • Remember to feed my chooks morning and night, check they’ve got fresh water daily and most importantly, enjoy spending time caring for the place we all love!

A giggle for you ...

Q: Why can't you argue with a dictionary?

A: It always has the last word!

Healthy Pick of the Week
