Gee, I so hope you live close and find time to come and Celebrate the Gardens of Clonbinane – you’re definitely in for a treat! Very recently, we did a number of garden visits around Adelaide during the International Rose Conference and our local gardens are as diverse and interesting… Country hospitality at its best too

A giggle for you ...

Q: What does a ghost wear to the beach?

A: A boo-kini!

Soon enough we may experience some beach weather perhaps?

We’re receiving lots of calls and emails about fungus conditions on garden roses and it’s not surprising considering the continual rain and humidity so please, enjoy the fragrance and the flowers – the bushes will recover when we get weeks of hot, dry, sunny days.

It has never been more important to implement the organic rose management spray program which you make up according to quantity you require in order to cover how many roses you have in your garden – make a little bit extra and spray your fruit trees and veggies.

All other ornamental plants which might also be struggling with fungus issues during these humid conditions will respond well if you spray them too!

To 10 litres of water add:

  • Seaweed according to direction on pack of your preferred product;
  • ¼ cup Eco Fungicide;
  • ¼ cup Eco Oil – which acts as insecticide and dispersant;
  • Vigorously shake to mix products and then spray all foliage to run-off (before 10am is best). Never spray if temperature is expected to exceed 30 degrees which is highly unlikely in the outlook.

Because there are continual showers, it’s best to find a window of opportunity and spray onto dry foliage, then hope there’s no rain for at least one hour after the spray is applied – this is called the ‘withholding period’ to ensure the products were effective over the leaf surface after you’ve sprayed.

Yes, it’s tricky, which means you might find late afternoon/evening spraying before dark, more applicable – just do it!

Best that the foliage dries before the sun goes down as wet foliage overnight is only going to cause more issues – especially in very cool conditions as we’re still experiencing here at Clonbinane.

Our roses are having to deal with an unusual weather cycle and as I’ve said many times during my 40 years of experience with roses, “you can fertilise and prune their way out of a problem”.

In order to recover our potted roses for their summer glory, we’ve applied granular fertiliser, foliage fertiliser, the organic rose management spray every week and we’re busy pruning away impacted foliage – the response is amazing with the entire nursery starting to look beautiful again!

Another giggle ...

Q: What happens when you cross a cow and a comedian?

A: It gets udderly ridiculous!

Organic Rose Management Spray Upgrade

Despite there being lots of magnificent potted roses in the nursery that I could highly recommend for your garden, let me offer this very special bundle of products.

Our Organic Rose Management Program which includes 500g of Eco-Fungicide, 500ml of Eco-Oil and now with an upgrade to 600g Eco-Seaweed (RRP $32.50) instead of the 100g Eco-Seaweed (RRP $21.50) which is a HUGE SAVING!

ORGANIC MANAGEMENT SPRAY UPGRADE - $79.50 INCLUDES PACK/POST

When you have the bonus 600g pack of Eco Seaweed, go ballistic and improve healthy vigorous foliage of all your garden by pouring Eco Seaweed solution over and around the base of all plants in your garden – you’ll be staggered by the difference and your plants will be singing ‘thank you’!

Remember that seaweed solution is NOT fertiliser so go to your local garden centre and purchase high-quality organic fertiliser which has a complete balance of NPK plus added trace elements. Apply fertiliser now and follow pack directions but usually, roses love a good feed, so every 6-8 weeks of light but regular applications is great for continual flowering.

Enjoy every bit of sunshine to make your roses and veggies abundant in these last weeks of spring…
