Help Your Rose Garden Recover

Hello Dear Rose Friends,

To say our visit to the World Rose Conference in Adelaide was awesome, spectacular, enjoyable and wonderful is an understatement!

Congratulations to all organisers of the event with rose lovers from around the world congregating to share their knowledge and passion for roses. Despite challenging weather conditions, the gardens we visited were spectacular!

Thanks to our team – Ben, Jason and Janelle who kept the home fires burning and managed the business in our absence – these are challenging times for growing roses with so many variables in weather patterns.

Despite best practice with our organic rose management, there’s been a bit of fungus about and we know this is an issue for all our customers however, don’t despair, nothing stays the same and as soon as we get hot sunny days, the roses will reveal their enormous capacity to push through horrid weather conditions – as soon as their foliage is lush and healthy again, they’ll produce the biggest, bestest blooms you’ve ever seen!

The first flowers we’re enjoying here are supremely magnificent and prove that deep-soaking watering is a key to producing lots of large rose blooms!

Please read this very important document from Sustainable Gardening Australia (SGA) this information will help many gardens recover after recent significant inundation.

SGA DOCUMET

"Good afternoon Diana - I just had to send an email to tell you how much I love “Winter Sun”! I bought my first dozen roses this past season, total rookie, I bought eight DA - and honesty they just, dare I say…pale in comparison, compared to Winter Sun (is that some sort of rose crime to admit that?)

Winter Sun is magnificent. Gobsmackingly gorgeous. How is it not the most popular rose in the world? The bloom size! The colour! The health! The strength! The glossy green! Honestly. I’m so glad I took your “very highly recommended advice” Thank you.

And if you get a spare minute, would you mind please suggesting any other roses characteristically similar to Winter Sun…any colour…to add to my ‘next time’ list?

Thanks so much, I hope you are all well down there, you have such a wonderful business - Jess x"

Hey Jess... I'm sure the other varieties will catch up but yes, Winter Sun just gets on with being sensational! Enjoy the flowering season and thank you for this wonderful email. Cheers – Graham and Diana

Two Must Have Roses

This week's rose bundle was chosen by Jason!

Jason has worked at Silkies Rose Farm for more than twelve months and he was responsible for potting all the bare-rooted roses this past winter. He is now very involved in potted rose maintenance, tree and garden maintenance and is now finding his way into assisting customers selecting roses for their gardens.

Jason selected Maggie and Miss Unique as his two MUST HAVE ROSES as they’re both so very disease resistant, with glossy foliage and they’ll give a magnificent show all flowering season!

2 MUST HAVE ROSES INCLUDES PACK/POST - $105.95

A giggle for you ...

Q: Why is a tomato red?

A: Because if it was green and long it would be a cucumber!

Gardens of Clonbinane

Hope you’ve prepared your veggie garden ready to planting out all the summer veggies – thankfully, Janelle recently installed a glass house at her place so my tomatoes and other seedlings will be safe down at her house until the frosts end here at Clonbinane!

You’ll visit Janelle’s magnificent garden when you attend the Celebrate the Gardens of Clonbinane. Bookings are now open, with all proceeds going to CFA Clonbinane who will also have a sausage sizzle and our Community Hall open for refreshments and toilet facilities from 9am – 4pm.
