ROSE RAMBLER 10TH JUNE, 2021

Published by Rose Sales Online on 17th Jun 2021

Hello Dear Rose Friends,
Here in Victoria, we endure an absolute drenching which of course, in our situation, means no roses can be posted during this time!  This weekend is Queen’s Birthday Holiday so we’ll send truckloads of roses again from next Tuesday onwards.

Please, please know that we will be honoring ALL and EVERY order!  Today is just the 10th day of winter and it is our plan to have all orders delivered to destination by the last day of winter – 31st August so there’s stacks of time and quite honestly, emails like this just slow us down …

“Hello there,  I received this parcel today but it only contained one rose: jude the obscure.  I have followed this with Parcel Post and they claim that there was only one item to be delivered.  Could you please advise.  With thanks … M”

To which I responded:  "Hi … are you sure there aren’t more than one rose?  We pack the roses in bundles ….?  Please do check and I’ll go source your order… talk after – Diana"

To which M responded:  "Yes. Attached photos of the parcel I got.  I have asked Australia Post to send me a message re: being only 1 pack. Will forward when I get it."

The moment I sighted the pictures which were forwarded in the next email, I could very clearly see two labels and from the number of branches, I knew there were two plants in the box.  Meantime, I’ve also had interaction with Australia Post asking me where the second parcel is?  Their time was wasted too because there were very definitely two roses in the pack!!!

May I urge you to carefully unpack the roses, have a bucket of water/seaweed solution ready to dunk them in and then, if there’s been a mistake in the number or type of roses you’ve received, please proceed to call or email me!

We are human, definitely not robots which is why we can’t possibly be out in this incredibly wet weather gathering roses to post to you!  Mistakes are made but please also know that we are checking and double-checking each parcel of roses BEFORE its sealed and sent to the PO.

Next week it will be fine again and we’ll work like navvies to post roses!

With all that’s going on at the moment, take time to have a giggle at this:

Think positive! It keeps you feeling young. For example, I fell down the stairs today and I thought “wow, that’s the fastest I’ve moved in years..."

Whilst out for lunch yesterday, Diana and I came up with this package of roses to brighten a spot in your garden … these three beauties will guarantee bunches of roses for vases of flowers on your kitchen bench for many seasons to come:

Elina commands recognition wherever she is planted by the robust height alone! Elina is a strong, vigorous bush with dark-green very disease-resistant foliage which adds enormous beauty as a foil for the huge, magnificently formed ivory blooms which are at least 15cms across.

For a giggle:
Q:  Why did the flower take her husband back after he cheated?
A: She rose above it.

Meantime, with the cold and wet onslaught of winter, stay warm and dry but do get out for a walk or go prune a few roses, pull a few weeds or turn your compost to keep fit and warm!

Cheers from a very wet, soggy Silkies Rose Farm, Clonbinane! Stay safe, Gra, Diana, Mooi and the chickens!
