We are experiencing one of the loveliest summers in our gardens here at Clonbinane – not scorching hot and with good mulch cover and adequate water, the roses look stunning.
Between watering the potted roses in the nursery, walking back and forth between the house when customers call in and dragging hoses around to different garden beds, I’m walking at least 3 kilometers a day which is sure to keep me fit and well into the future.

Gra's Blue is hailed by the growers and all those who see it as a true ‘little beauty’. The shrub is constantly producing tight buds of lavender/mauve which open to reveal a mass of small petals which last well on the bush and in a vase.
Listening to the news this week, there’s talk about a shortage of roses for Valentine’s Day and the comment was … “roses are old-fashioned and daggy – sunflowers are in …” Really ???
