RUGOSA SCABROSA is a seriously easy rose to grow in any situation - once established it requires almost no care and will continue to flourish and produce masses of single magenta/cerise single blooms very freely throughout the season.  If left unpruned, it will also produce an abundance of plump rose hips suitable for harvesting to eat in all manner of recipes - wine, syrup, jam ... all yum and very healthy!

Just one plant close to your orchard or veggie garden will mean lots of bees to act as pollinators ... suitable also for pots on a balcony - very highly recommended rose!

    Rugosa Scabrosa

One of my favorite roses - one I associate with D-Day as it lines the cliffs above the D-Day beaches in France, in the form of magnificent hedges. That will give you an idea of how hardy it is! - jolly cold and windy there. The perfume is amazing, one of the very best. In the rugosas, only Blanc de Blanc and Roserie d'la Hay are better - they are 5-star and this is a whisker less impressive. Jack Harkness called it the most rewarding rose he ever owned, which is saying something!
