Aspirin (Bareroot)

Aspirin – Bare Root refers to plants sold or transported in a “bare-root” state, along with the use of aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) in horticulture. Bare-root plants are those that have been removed from soil, with their roots exposed and free of growing medium. They are typically dormant and are commonly sold this way for easier handling, transport, and planting—especially for trees, shrubs, and roses.

In gardening practice, aspirin is sometimes used in diluted form in water when planting bare-root specimens. This is based on its relation to salicylic acid, a naturally occurring plant compound involved in plant defense responses. Some gardeners use aspirin solutions in an attempt to reduce transplant shock, encourage root development, or support overall plant health, although scientific evidence for these effects is limited and not universally accepted.

Bare-root plants should be kept moist before planting and placed into prepared soil promptly to ensure successful establishment.
