ROSE RAMBLER 8TH JULY, 2021

Published by Rose Sales Online on 7th Jul 2021

Hello Dear Rose Friends,
We appeal for you to be patient as we manage to assemble orders and post hundreds of parcels every week.  We are still waiting on several varieties of roses to be dug from the sopping wet ground!  If you are patient, we can be almost 100% sure you’ll get every single rose variety you ordered.

You can safely plant bare-rooted roses right through August and into September. Even October would be fine provided the roses are well-managed with seaweed solution immediately after planting to reduce transplant shock!

Standard roses are most definitely still in the ground and won’t be dug until later this month – they’ve had some brilliant cold, frosty mornings which hardens the wood and makes them safer to handle and transit without breakages.

If your order contains standards and other roses, those roses are being carefully managed here in the vast heel-in beds and will be sent along with your standards during early August.

We enjoyed hosting the ABC Gardening Australia film crew with Millie Ross last Monday! Segments will be aired next winter when she’ll show you how to fearlessly prune your roses.  Millie did a top job pruning lots of roses in our gardens.

For a giggle:

This story was worth a giggle at the bloke’s coffee morning … “Jimmy was digging a hole in his backyard when his neighbour stuck his head over the fence and asked what he was digging the hole for. “I’m burying my goldfish.” The neighbour asks: “Why such a big hole?” Jimmy responded: “Because my goldfish is inside your cat.”

These three varieties are generally purchased as Gift Roses (potted, lovely gift wrapping, card with personal message, gift box and postage) so perhaps you can pot them yourself and then, when an occasion arises in coming months, you’ll have a rose you can gift immediately.
