ROSE RAMBLER 5TH AUGUST, 2021

Published by Rose Sales Online on 4th Aug 2021

Hello Dear Rose Friends,
We’re reveling in the glory of blazing yellow from the wattles which flourish along the creek flats. What a spectacle this year!  Daffodils are starting to flower in various garden beds and there’s no doubt about it, the birds are singing towards spring.

It’s a sopping, sloppy mess here. Our cars look as though we don’t care for them but it’s pointless washing them until our dirt roads dry out. There’s promising sunny weather this weekend … hope it sticks around!

Get ready for an amazing springtime in your garden and one of the most important things you can do after all this rain is fertilize the garden NOW. Fertilise again in around 8 weeks time when your roses will most likely be flowering. They’ll definitely be well-foliaged.

I anticipate early flowering in our garden this year. We pruned early; it’s been quite mild and I can see masses of healthy foliage bursting forth.  Some roses which weren’t pruned in the early round are still being pruned now and it won’t really hinder their flowering by early November, more than normal here at very cold Clonbinane.

JOKE THIS WEEK:
Q. What do you get when you cross a dog and a computer?
A. A machine whose bark is worst than its byte.

WHAT FERTILISER TO USE

If you live within driving distance of our Rose Farm, definitely make an effort to collect the great organic fertilizer which we use and highly recommend:

Complete Organic Fertilizer (COF) which is manufactured at Shepparton, i.e. close by to reduce travel-miles as part of our sustainable nursery program.

You will find similar organic products available at your local garden centre – go talk with the folks there, ask their advice and you’re sure to end up with the best quality fertilizer for your garden.

Between fertilizing, it’s always a great idea to apply seaweed solution over the foliage of all plants at least once a month – to this solution you can most definitely add a foliage fertilizer just to give the roses a real boost as they do their most amazing growth in readiness for flowering from spring onwards.

Every little bit of attention, products and time you afford your roses during these coming weeks will be returned to you by lush, healthy foliage and loads of perfect blooms. Remember, more foliage = more flowers!

FATHER'S DAY SPECIAL

Special offer this week, perhaps a great idea for Father’s Day which is just around the corner …

Secateur & Sharpener Bundle
For just $95 give your Dad the best secateurs he’s ever likely to own along with a sharpener to keep them in top nick forever. Also buy a pair for your Mum!

Have a happy week in your garden. We’ll definitely be busy here as some of the standard roses are now dug so we’ll start posting them next week. There’s one section of paddock which is not accessible and may hold up some orders

We urge you to please be patient which means you will get exactly what you ordered and you’ll receive notification as soon as your roses are lodged with Australia Post who are doing an amazing job!

Stay warm and get ready for warmer days ahead. Cheers from Graham, Diana & Mooi at Silkies Rose Farm.
