ROSE RAMBLER 30TH JUNE, 2022

Published by Rose Sales Online on 30th Jun 2022

Hello Dear Rose Friends,
The end of another financial year in our 36-year-old business so we start with a fresh page tomorrow. Always a nice feeling to have it all neatly tucked away knowing we’ve contributed to the running of our great country!

For us, our greatest sense of contribution is to the environment. To think that we offer gardeners an opportunity to plant a ‘tree’ to offset climate change. Yes, Graham reminds us all the time, "Each rose is, like a tree, greening our environment whilst affording us such beautiful flowers and heavenly fragrance for nearly 9 months in every year!"

Exponentially, a huge environmental advantage which we can all be proud to say we’re a part of.

Meantime, keep on planting roses, veggies, lawns and be associated with everything and anything to do with gardening in your space!

I’ll bet you’re biting at the bit to get out and prune your roses this winter. Be sure you’ve got good sharp secateurs and a pruning saw on hand along with gloves to protect your hands and give you confidence when working around your roses.

PRUNING DEMONSTRATIONS

I'll be doing the pruning demonstrations on the following dates.
SATURDAY 9TH JULY – 1PM
SUNDAY 10TH JULY – 11AM

Since it’s the school holidays, bring the kids along to either learn to prune or let them run in the garden. They’re sure to find the big old oak tree fun to climb!

Bring your secateurs with you. I’ll show you how to clean and sharpen them. There’s no charge for the pruning demos but we would appreciate a donation for the Clonbinane CFA who keeps us safe.

A giggle for you this week …

Q: What do you get when you cross a chicken and a clock?
A: Egg on your face.

Covering an Unsightly Fence or Wall?

How nice when you’re preparing dinner to be able to look out the kitchen window and see an abundance of flowers rather than an unsightly wall. These three David Austin roses would give you the added delight of a whiff of myrrh fragrance as well.

$90 including pack/post for three awesome David Austin Roses which can be posted NOW!

I suggest you use the magnificent climbing rose Bathsheba in the centre with the shrub roses on either side to cover at least three metres of wall/fence. If you have a long area to cover, simply repeat the planting like that.

Charlotte, Bathsheba, Roald Dahl – Roald Dahl, Bathsheba, Charlotte. I need to find a wall or fence-line to do this planting as it would be stunning!

PLEASE BE PATIENT AND KNOW YOU WILL RECEIVE THE ROSES YOU’VE ORDERED AS SOON AS THEY’RE LABELLED AND READY FOR POSTING.

One last giggle for this week  …

Q: How excited was the gardener about spring?
A: So excited he wet his plants!

We know we still have months of cold ahead of us but in anticipation of warmer days to come, we thought you might enjoy this little giggle. After such a cold winter, we will all be excitedly wetting our plants when spring comes!

Rug up and go for a brisk walk in the winter sunshine … aaaaahh, so good for you! See you soon at Clonbinane for the pruning demonstrations!

Happy pruning from Diana, Gra, Mooi and the Team at Clonbinane!
