ROSE RAMBLER 2ND JUNE, 2022

Published by Rose Sales Online on 2nd Jun 2022

Hello Dear Rose Friends,
As we shiver through the first days of winter, it’s such a joy to have magnificent roses in our heel-in beds, all ready to be sorted, graded, labelled and then organized for either posting or pick up. This really is a most exciting time for all of us!

Rose Garden Management Emails

We received these emails recently and I’m sharing them because they’re so relevant to NOW in your rose garden management.

"Hello! I have a question...I have a rose which I bought from you three years ago and up until this year, it has bloomed beautifully in a large pot.

This year... nothing... a friend has recommended I find a place in the garden and it will revive.

Do you have any special instructions, please?  I would hate to lose it.  It is called FORGET ME NOT and I bought it after my dear old spaniel died. Thank you in anticipation … Patricia"

MY RESPONSE
Hi. It’s run out of puff in a pot. If you wish to retain it in a pot, then upend the pot, trim the roots, the top just as if it was a bare-rooted rose all over again.  Use fresh potting media and back in the same pot unless you cracked it to get the old rose out. It’s sure to be lovely again!

Otherwise, as your friend said, over into the garden. Best wishes and enjoy!  Graham

IN APPRECIATION
"I do enjoy reading your weekly newsletter. Congratulations because this is no small task and you always make it so personal and worthwhile reading.  In appreciation – Ann"

BEST SECATEURS EVER
"DIANA, remind everyone who hasn't to purchase a pair of your secateurs....not only for roses.  They honestly are the best I have ever used!!!!!    Wish I had known about them years ago.... Regards,  Christine"

A giggle to make you smile...
Q:  What did the bee say to the rose?
A: Hello honey!
