ROSE RAMBLER 19TH NOVEMBER, 2020 – Hello Dear Rose Friends, we’ve had a bit of a scrambled time with opening our gates after Covid-19 lockdown and getting all the protocols in place; we are here to welcome you for a visit soon!

FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY and MONDAY  9AM – 4PM

Telephones are manned ONLY during these open times – 03 5787 1123 and email is responded to usually within 24 hours – info@rosesalesonline.com.au

The gardens are magnificent and the potted roses look stunning too.  You’ve got three more weeks until Australia Post cut-off date of 12th December for posting roses for Christmas gifting.

The Rose Farm will close on Monday 21st December and re-open on Friday 15th January, 2021 when we will also recommence posting roses.

Customer Exchanges: Once again, we’ve had some great exchanges with customers so that we can all learn more about growing roses …

"Hi … Just wanted to let you know how happy I am with the outcome from my first hedge trimming exercise! The result is great - so healthy-looking and unbelievable production of masses of blooms. Having water this year has certainly helped, but they are the best they have ever looked.

Thanks so much again for the great tip. Trust you are enjoying coming out of lock-down. Cheers, Kim"

Inquiry from Jenny: Jenny was concerned that her new Lady of Shallot rose wasn’t going to perform after planting a bare-rooted specimen this past winter … Look what happened after we responded to her email and she followed our advice.

"Hi Team … Thank you for your advice regarding my Lady of Shallot rose, that was failing to launch.  You recommended giving it seaweed solution for one week/daily.  I am happy to tell you that she now has launched and is covered with healthy leaves.  She will make it! Thanks for the education, which I will add to my bag of tricks.

Regards … Jenny"

Inquiry from Wendy:
Wendy sent through this picture of a newly planted rose which had sparce growths and there was definitely no weedicide used.

"Hi Diana and Graham, Just to ask if you could look at the photo please and see what’s up. I bought it from you I think less than two months ago, planted into virgin soil with some of my home-made compost. Many thanks"

Graham responded:  We get this sometimes on newly potted roses too .. use Yates Trace "Elements – needed only once usually and bingo, away the plant goes …?  Not 100% sure why/how this happens and it can be varietal too … Cheers"

Very soon afterwards, this email and picture from Wendy …
"It worked! The trace elements used its magic. What a difference and thank you soooo much."

Our giggle for this week:
Q. Where do you find a new cat?
A. In a catalogue!

With very warm windy days, it’s been amazing to note how quickly the soil has dried. This is especially visible where mulch cover is inadequate. So, be sure to apply fertiliser, then deep soak the bed and it is very timely to place a good thick layer of mulch over a well-soaked garden bed.

Keep in mind that roses flourish with at least 20 litres of water per bush per week – the 20 litres should be applied in one soaking!

Enjoy your rose garden during this magnificent season …  Graham, Diana & Mooi
